What Customers Say About Long Walk to Freedom: Autobiography of Nelson Mandela:

Excellent. Danny Glover does a wonderful job of reading Mandela's remarkable story. It has soul.

This book is excellent and should be a book everyone reads at least once in their lifetime.

It was in perfect condition, and was a hard back copy, which I had not anticipated. The book I ordered, LONG WALK TO FREEDOM by Nelson Mendela, was even greater than I expected. I will keep this book in my library forever.

But I didn't realize I had bought the abridged edition. So keep that in mind.the one with the title ending "With Connections (HRW Library)" is abridged. It's a great read. Aaaargh.

The manuscript is excessively detailed--pages and pages of meeting minutes.several times I almost gave up. But fear not, your IM'ing, ADD grandkids will be able to make a killing by recycling the paper. It was Mandela (the story) that keep me going long after I might have given up on Mandela (the writer).LWTF is heavy on narrative voice and light on scene development, characterization, and dialog. Mandela (the man) gets five stars, no question. And, it reads exactly like that. This one is worth your while, if you're young and you have a lot of years left.

A political prisoner for over half his adult life changes the world and becomes president. The book is a different story:I bought this book at the Robbin Island gift shop, where Mandela spent 17 years of his life in exile, I spent the next 17 years of my life trying to finish it. The author's voice is vanilla, but the story he tells is Neapolitan. If your getting up there in years, you may not live to read the end. One of the most compelling stories of our age.

In my mind, the single most important political figure of my lifetime. This is a history book written by the hand of history.
